Moving to Syracuse

Located in the Ogden metropolitan area of Utah is the small, safe, and comfortable community of Syracuse. Found in between the city of Layton and the Great Salt Lake, this beautiful town has seen a major growth spurt over the past few decades. Back in the 1990s, it was home to only about 4,500 people and has since grown to a population of nearly 30,000 residents.

Thinking about moving to Syracuse in the near future? Wasatch Moving Company has completed over 5,000 moves across Utah, providing top-level service to each and every customer. Our team is trained for professionalism and moving knowledge to give you peace of mind for your upcoming relocation.

If you’re wondering about the area’s safety record, you’ll be happy to hear it is ranked among the top 20 safest cities in Utah. As you look for the best neighborhoods in Syracuse, you’ll find plenty of great options including Allison Acres just to the east of town center. A couple of other top neighborhoods are West Sunset View Estates and Rhoades Lane.

Once you’ve narrowed your living arrangements, you’ll probably want to know what kind of fun things there are to do around the city. Antelope State Park is one of the top locations, where visitors can enjoy backcountry trails via hiking, biking, or horseback riding. Another fun outdoor spot is Jensen Nature Park, which has a fishing pond surrounded by walking and jogging trails. Nearby in Ogden, Hill Aerospace Museum has one of the country’s most interesting displays of retired planes and other aerospace vehicles.

If you have young children who will attend school in the area, they will be part of the Davis School District. Elementary schools include Bluff Ridge, Buffalo Point, Syracuse Elementary, and Cook Elementary. Middle schoolers will enroll at Syracuse Junior High, while high schoolers will go to Syracuse High. The Syracuse Arts Academy is a charter for students between K-9.

Syracuse also has a rock bottom unemployment rate of only 2.2%, meaning there are plenty of jobs offered around the city. The largest employer in the area is Hill Air Force Base, which employs up to 15,000 people around Davis County. The Davis School District and the Kroger Group are also major companies that have 7,000 and 2,000 employees respectively.

The northern part of Utah is recognized worldwide for its snow and Syracuse is no exception. The area sees about 49 inches of snow per year, coupled with about 21 inches of rain and low temperatures reaching the 20s. Summers are much more comfortable, bringing outside swimming weather in the low 90s.
