Paul Ream Wilderness Park – Nature Walk in Provo, UT
The seven-acre Paul Ream Wilderness Park provides a beautiful slice of nature right in the center of Provo. It’s located next to both the Provo River Parkway Trail and the Provo River but also contains a duck pond so you can get plenty of peaceful bird watching in or some beautiful scenic photographs while you get some light exercise. The scenery here is second to none. Convenient off-street parking combined with a playground for the kiddos and restrooms complete with drinking fountains makes Paul Ream an ideal location to reserve a pavilion for a party!

Rock Canyon Park – Largest Park in Provo, UT
You don’t really appreciate just how big this park is until you visit. With an astounding 55 acres of space, there is more to do at Rock Canyon Park than any of the other parks in Provo. If you’re looking to space out from other people there are plenty of grassy fields for you to have a picnic in, play catch in, or throw a frisbee with friends and family. Multiple off-street parking lots allow for various points of entry which will probably be dictated by your interest in the horseshoe pit, the volleyball court, one of the two full playgrounds, the 9 hole disc golf course, one of the rentable pavilions, and proximity to one of the three restrooms!

Bicentennial Park – Dog Park in Provo, UT
Looking for something to do with your dog? Maybe you just want to enjoy the sunshine and play fetch or maybe you want to get the canine exposed to other doggies. With 33 gorgeous acres and off-street parking, Bicentennial Park allows for an off-leash dog park experience in Provo! Pups are known to meet up for play dates while their humans find some shade under one of the many large shade trees. If you’re new to the area, the dog park is a great place to meet new people and make friends. The other acreage outside the dog park area allows for scenic photo shoots at the spring and wetlands boardwalk and it has a nice disc golf course. Restrooms have drinking fountains because both humans and dogs need to remain hydrated!

Lions Park – Massive Pavilion in Provo, UT
This beauty is at the bottom of Grandview Hill. Though Lions Park isn’t as large as some of the other Provo parks on the list, it is the perfect venue for large gatherings. The park has plenty to do with a softball field, lazy stream, horseshoe pit, volleyball court, and playground. Two off-street parking lots allow for 150+ vehicles leading up to the most appealing feature of all. The park has a massive outdoor pavilion with lighting and 41 tables making it the perfect location for parties, receptions, corporate events, and family reunions. (Just be sure to try to book it long ahead of time because it’s a popular venue!)

Kiwanis Park – Soccer, Baseball, and Tennis
Kiwanis Park is located next to Brigham Young University campus, so you’re likely to find college students hanging around this area. The park has fields and courts that are meticulously maintained for the various school club activities and league sporting events. The soccer fields, tennis courts, and baseball fields are all open to families and group gatherings when they’re not being used by the school and leagues. With both street and off-street parking, you’re sure to find a spot even on the busiest of days. Three separate playgrounds will keep the little ones plenty active and busy while the teens and grownups occupy the rest of the 21-acre park, which tends to have the best grass in the entire city.

Pioneer Park – Water Fun in Provo, UT
Up until 2013, the small 4-acre park was a forgotten landmark of Provo, lost to time and mostly abandoned. The Parks and Recreation office decided to do something about it and boy, did they ever! Pioneer Park offers the city a unique outdoor water feature for families to enjoy on the hottest days of the year. The splash pond is visited by members of the community from all over the city as the water spouts are a perfect escape from the hot summer sun. During the cooler months, children get to enjoy the extravagant playground. Every Saturday from June through October, there is a Farmer’s Market if you’re looking to support local business. Don’t worry! There are restrooms complete with a drinking fountain here as well!

Slate Canyon Park – State Park in Provo, UT
Slate Canyon Park is an ongoing project by the State of Utah. Currently, 64 acres are completed with paved access roads, lighting, pavilions, picnic tables, and access to the Bonneville Shoreline Trail. Recently, an Amphitheater was completed near the playground and other pavilions, walking paths, and biking trails. There are future plans for more vantage points to appreciate the natural landscape of Utah, elaborate playgrounds for children, and something exceptionally unique – a full BMX Skills course. More funding becomes available each year and the expectation is that every summer there will be new amenities available to the citizens of Utah.

Canyon Glen Park – Mountain Park in Provo, Utah
Canyon Glen is known for the very popular access to the Provo River Parkway Trail and the Bonneville Shoreline Trail. Whether you’re into some peaceful walking to take in the sights and sounds or you’re looking for some heavy marathon training, these two trails offer something for everybody. The park has a few music venues and an amphitheater so it’s not uncommon for small festivals or carnivals to take place in the nice weather, especially because they have been equipped with electricity. There is natural wildlife like deer, and water birds to enjoy, as well as fire pits and barbecues. There are also convenient restrooms and drinking fountains as well as a playground and volleyball courts as well. You can kill multiple days at Canyon Glen without spending much money at all!
